AIR AND WATER

Cauliflower cumulus clouds climbing ominously in the darkening sky
Ragged electric currents coursing through the billowing and roiling condensation
With droplets of fat rain rising in the freezing air to become tennis balls of ice and rime
And falling earthward with destructive force shattering windshields
And pummeling the roofs of homes and cars and unsuspecting passersby
Straight line winds ripping at 100 miles per hour through the land like the wrath of God
Weaving a path of destruction through God’s and man’s creation
And then…
And then suddenly the static discharge of free electrons shattering the quiet air
And connecting the air to the ground with a rope of energy beyond comprehension
Temperatures exceeding the heat of the Sun itself
And yet…
And yet, the source of such devastation is comprised of gentle air and water and warming rays of sun
Because all things when stretched to their extremes have the potential to wreak havoc
Humans who are made of a mélange of complex molecules may far exceed a storm’s destructive force
However…
However, by walking the middle path and by treading gently into this world we choose a path of love
And by choosing that path we sow the seeds of truth, meaning, peace, joy, beauty, and compassion
And where those seeds find purchase, a world is filled with a power beyond any destructive force
The constructive power of love
